Cosmetic Tooth Bonding

gentleman-who-had-dental-bonding-a-simple-yet-dramatic-procedure-where-a-dentist-can-reshape-minor-to-moderate-tooth-discrepanciesDental bonding is a simple yet dramatic procedure where we can reshape minor to moderate tooth discrepancies. Like a white filling, bonding uses materials that match your natural tooth enamel. This allows Dr. Ricotta to apply it over your tooth without being noticed.

We typically use bonding to correct the appearance of problems like:

  • Chipped or uneven teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Exposed root surfaces
  • Discolored or stained tooth enamel

Bonding is best used on just one or two teeth at a time. It is also frequently used alongside teeth with veneers or after having your smile whitened – for more dramatic effects.

Your Bonding Appointment

First, your tooth enamel is gently conditioned. This opens up the pores so that the composite material can bond very closely with your tooth. Then, Dr. Ricotta shapes the composite into the appropriate form, so that it fills in any aesthetic discrepancies. Finally, a bright light is held over the bonding material for several seconds, to cure it in place.

Once your bonding appointment is complete, you will be able to look in the mirror at what looks like a fully formed, appropriately shaped tooth!

Bonding is one of the simplest, most affordable ways to make a dramatic impact on problems like broken or gapped teeth. If you feel embarrassed about the way your smile looks simply due to the appearance of one or two teeth, then be sure to ask us if bonding is right for you.
